Daisy’s Story

Daisy, a sweet King Charles Cavalier, was more than just a dog—she was a service dog and my closest companion. From the moment we met, I knew she was special. She had a gentle spirit and an incredible ability to comfort me, not only through her presence but also by being my helper in times of need. Daisy became the biggest love of my life, and together we shared an unbreakable bond that only deepened over time.

Her health, however, required special care. She was diagnosed with a heart condition – MVD that eventually led us on a journey to London, where she underwent open-heart surgery. I fought for her health, doing everything I could to give her the best care possible. Daisy was a fighter too, and her resilience through her medical challenges was nothing short of inspiring. After her surgery, there was hope. She recovered beautifully, and we cherished the time we had together after that.

But in the end, it wasn’t her heart that failed her—it was a tragic mistake. A prescription error by a pharmacy – CVS led to her untimely passing. The loss of Daisy shattered me. Losing her felt like losing a part of myself, as she was not just a pet, but my family, my service dog, and my greatest love. The grief was compounded by the injustice of the situation, knowing that her life was cut short due to a preventable error.

In her memory, I couldn’t just sit still. I turned my pain into purpose. Alongside my sister, we started Daisy’s Legacy, a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for safer prescriptions for both humans and animals, supporting pet welfare, and working to change the legal status of pets in Virginia—from mere property to family members. Daisy’s Legacy also seeks to help underserved communities care for their animals and prevent the heartbreak I experienced from happening to others.

Daisy’s story is one of love, resilience, and a fight for justice. Though she’s no longer with me, her legacy lives on through the work of Daisy’s Legacy, helping countless pets and their owners, and striving to make the world a safer place for our beloved companions. She may be gone, but Daisy’s impact will never be forgotten.
